Community Support Services - Meals on Wheels in South East Ontario

Description of Service

Many community-based Provider Organizations (Providers) provide Meals on Wheels that may be delivered once a day for up to seven days a week, depending on a person's needs and the service availability in their area.

There is a consumer fee for this service to cover costs of food and its preparation. Volunteers delivering the meals also provide social contact and an informal check on a person's health and safety.

Eligibility

The process for arranging care is different for each of the Community Support Services. Contact the local Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) to find out the process for each of the service options and whether someone is eligible for the government-funded services.

If the CCAC deems someone ineligible to receive government-funded services, or if someone wishes to make their own arrangements, they may apply to the Provider Organization directly.
