Volunteer Hospice
Description of Service
Many community-based Provider Organizations (Providers) offer Volunteer Hospice services by having volunteers provide emotional support and physical help to support individuals who require palliative care.
An individual assessment is completed to determine the specific needs of the individual and/or their caregiver. Volunteers visit to support the individual and/or their caregiver, and social support is provided.
Eligibility
The process for arranging care is different for each of the Community Support Services. Contact the local Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) to find out the process for each of the service options and whether someone is eligible for the government-funded services.
If the CCAC deems someone ineligible to receive government-funded services, or if someone wishes to make their own arrangements, they may apply to the Provider Organization directly.
