Meals: Diners Club
Description of Service
Many community-based Provider Organizations (Providers) offer transportation from a person's home to a dining hall to join others for a nutritious meal for a service often called Diners Club (or congregate dining). Seniors may also provide their own transport to partake in these meals.
There is a consumer fee for this service to cover costs of food and its preparation (e.g. $4 to $8 per meal) and/or for transportation to congregate dining. Subsidies may be available.
Eligibility
The process for arranging care is different for each of the Community Support Services. Contact the local Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) to find out the process for each of the service options and whether someone is eligible for the government-funded services.
If the CCAC deems someone ineligible to receive government-funded services, or if someone wishes to make their own arrangements, they may apply to the Provider Organization directly.
