Caregiver Respite: Short-Stay
Description of Service
There are various ways to help a regular caregiver, who is often a family member, to have a break or do some things for themselves. These are called Caregiver Respite services, and one of the services is called Short-Stay service.
Some community-based Provider Organizations (Providers) provide offer Caregiver Respite: Short-Stay services which is temporary care provided in a long-term care home. There is a consumer fee for this service.

Eligibility
The process for arranging care is different for each of the Community Support Services. Contact the local Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) to find out the process for each of the service options and whether someone is eligible for the government-funded services.
If the CCAC deems someone ineligible to receive government-funded services, or if someone wishes to make their own arrangements, they may apply to the Provider Organization directly.
